Drogheda’s Supreme Announced at Award Ceremony
Drogheda’s Supreme Announced at Award Ceremony The gentlemen were handsomely dressed in their evening attire and the ladies looked fantastic in all their finery. There was a tremendous buzz as guests arrived in the Stemeen Room for a drinks reception which was sponsored by Donal Kinsella. As guests were seated for dinner, Yvonne Halpenny, The Chamber’s Business Development Manager started the evening’s proceedings by thanking all the sponsors of the event including Premier Sponsors Bank of Ireland Business Banking and North East Printers. She then handed over to the guest presenter for the evening, RTE’s Mr Bryan Dobson. The Chamber’s President, Mr. Eugene Kierans took to the stage a number of times during the evening and had guests in fits of laughter as he chatted about his time growing up in Drogheda. At one point Mr. Dobson announced that he might as well go home and leave Mr. Kierans to run the show. The Media Partners, Drogheda Leader and LMFM Radio and the Premier Sponsors were invited to the stage to chat about their involvement in the awards and what it meant to them as sponsors. ![]() Following dinner Bryan Dobson announced the four shortlisted companies in the nine categories and guests sat on the edge of their seats as he opened the gold envelopes one by one to revel the winners. The winning companies were then invited to the stage to receive their award from the category sponsor. (see list of winning companies below) The Lifetime Achievement award was then presented to Vincent Hoey for his outstanding commitment to the town of Drogheda and his contribution to the business community. Mr. Hoey received his award from Eugene Kierans and said how honoured and privileged he was to receive such a prestigious award. He then thanked the Chamber Council for selecting him for the award and paid great tribute to Eugene and the Drogheda Chamber for all their help and support over the years. Guests enjoyed the rest of the evening dancing to live band Boogie Nights and celebrations went on till the early hours. The Chamber President, Council and staff are delighted that the evening went so well and would like to thank everybody that was involved. They are already looking forward to planning next year’s event!
