Integrated Management Systems

DCC Energy Ltd Integrated Management System Policy Statement

IMS Function and Framework

DCC Energy Ltd operates its various management systems and controls as a single Integrated Management System (IMS) that governs all aspects of its business. It is the policy of DCC Energy Ltd and its directors to implement an appropriate and effective IMS that addresses all aspects that have an impact upon the company's business.

The IMS is structured as follows:

  • Planning – all significant aspects that must be controlled in order to satisfy legal, shareholder, customer and community requirements are identified and prioritised. Objectives and targets are then set by the directors to meet those requirements and suitable resources and organisational structures are provided in order to meet those objectives. Necessary processes are planned and developed and contingency plans are prepared to deal with foreseeable emergency situations.
  • Operation – the planned processes are implemented, ensuring that they meet the objectives and requirements. All necessary supporting resources, documents, records and verification/inspection regimes are provided. Only competent personnel may carry out activities on behalf of DCC Energy Ltd. All IMS documentation must be controlled. Effective arrangements must be implemented to control communication (both internal and from external sources). Arrangements with suppliers and contractors that can have an impact on DCC Energy Ltd's performance must be formalised.
  • Performance – the implemented processes are monitored and measured against stakeholder requirements. Should deviations from planned results occur, they are recorded (and corrective action is taken wherever possible). The IMS shall be audited periodically to ensure conformance to the planned arrangements. Continual improvement is achieved through the use of the policy, setting objectives, auditing and management review.
  • Review – the IMS shall be periodically reviewed to ensure its continuing suitability.

IMS Commitments

DCC Energy Ltd and its directors are committed to maintaining (and continually improving) this IMS and complying with requirements set down by the company's shareholders, all current applicable legislation (e.g. the Health and Safety at Work (Northern Ireland) Order 1978) and the communities in which the company operates. DCC Energy Ltd is also committed to complying with all appropriate industry codes of practice and working/cooperating with industry bodies and the enforcing authorities.

DCC Energy Ltd has a number of specific commitments to health and safety management (e.g. upholding its duty of care to ensure the safety of employees, customers and the public), security management (e.g. protecting data and premises), environmental management (e.g. protecting local environments, preventing pollution and minimising waste) and community development (e.g. providing employment and developing employee skills and competencies).

IMS Review

Each year, the directors shall review the IMS (including this policy) to ensure its continuing suitability. This review will set new specific objectives that are implemented according to the structure outlined above. Annual safety, environmental, financial and risk reviews are reported to the board of directors (as is a more general three-year plan) with periodic updates as required. This policy and the appropriate objectives are communicated to each employee with the intent that they understand their individual responsibilities. The policy is also available to other interested parties.
